Jabari Parker – 6’6″, 200, SF, Chicago, Il (Simeon)
Son of former NBA player Sonny Parker, Jabari is another kid who is more hoop savvy than athletic. That doesn’t mean he’s not athletic though. That just means he’s very smart on the hardwood. He has great range and uses leverage against perimeter defenses like Magic Johnson used to do. What will make him dangerous in the years to come will be his vast hoops knowledge. He just seems to understand that basketball is a team game… without sacrificing his scoring touch.
He’s smooth with his handle in transition or the half court set. He has great vision, and he has a beautiful release on his shot whether he’s moving or set.
The combination of Parker’s skill and size has many scouts selecting him as the top prospect in the 2013 class. I don’t really think it matters, but some people love the rankings.
He’s getting looks from everyone, of course. And the reports are that his family has a plan set to keep his recruitment sane.
